The longer I am in the business of being of business coach, profit growth specialist and marketing consultant the more I see the importance of nuturing a strong and intentional mindset.  Those business owners who do best have a powerful energy and passion for their work that comes from inside.  With a few exceptions, these high performers value balance in their lives, they exercise consistently and have strong family relationships.  Such people are generally modest by also have a firm and unshakeable belief their ability.

I was reading a Jack Canfield book recently and came across a passage that sums up what I’m talking about so I have reproduced it here:

“Casstevens, formerly of the Dallas Morning News, tells a story about Frank Szymanski, a Norte Dame center in the 1940’s, who had been called in as a witness in a civil in South Bend, Indiana.

“Are you on the Notre Dame football team this year?” the judge asked

“Yes, Your Honor.”

“What position?”

“Center, Your Honor.”

“How good a center?”

Symanski squirmed in his seat, but said finally “Sir, I’m the best center Notre Dame has ever had.”

Coach Frank Leahy, who was in the courtroom, was surprised.  Szymanski had always been modest and unassuming.  So when the proceedings were over, he took Szymanski aside and asked why he had made such a statement Szymanski blushed.

“I hated to do it, Coach,” he said “But, after all, I was under oath.”

 I want you to be under oath for the rest of your life and own the magnificent being you are, the positive qualities you have, and the wonderful accomplishments you have achieved.”

The more you build your own internal belief about your abilities the more success your business (and life in general) is likely to have.  Make you think!
