Shane is a clever guy.  He lives in Toronto and is the head of Coca Cola soft drink business in Canada.  He earns great money and enjoys heaps of fantastic opportunities.

Shane was telling me about another mutual mate who is a Policeman in New Plymouth.  This mate was complaining that if he wanted more opportunity to further his career he’d have to leave New Plymouth.  Shane said yep that’s the way of the world.  He said life is all about trade-offs.  If you want the great opportunities you have to move to where they are.

That got me thinking.

Actually it’s complete rubbish.

And here’s why…

As business owners we have the unique opportunity of being able to create a fantastic lifestyle and income right where we are.

The only constraints for our businesses are those we put on ourselves.

Things like taking enough action, getting the right skills and having a goal for where we want to head.

So if you’re reading this and you own a business.  Be thankful.  Most people who have a job don’t have the opportunity that you do.
